On The Road
Maximizing RV Park Amenities
Maximize your family RV trip with these tips on making the most out of common campground amenities.
In 2018, Shaun and Renee traded the typical American dream for life on the road, driven by a desire to spend quality, adventure-filled time with their five young children. They downsized their lives to explore the USA in their Jayco Jay Flight travel trailer, with dirt bikes, mountain bikes, and paddleboards in tow. Always seeking the next adventure to capture and explore, the Tilbys have visited nearly 40 states and 30 national parks, turning many of their experiences into hands-on learning opportunities through their roadschool curriculum. Between travels, the family enjoys renovating old RVs into beautiful tiny homes on wheels, helping other families embark on their own incredible journeys.
We love a last-minute budget-friendly adventure! Our favorite thing to do is seek out hidden gems, secluded boondocking sites, quirky campgrounds, and any place that gets us closer to nature.
Nothing makes me more happy than having my whole family gather around a campfire at the end of an adventureful day. The sounds of nature are the perfect accompaniment to the soft strum of a ukulele and the possibly off-tune, yet enthusiastic, campfire songs.
While we thoroughly enjoy a variety of camping experiences, boondocking is what we love most. Being able to access remote environments and experience uninterrupted views in areas where we can also ride our ATVs and other wheeled apparatuses is the sweet spot for us.
#1. Always keep your black tank closed in between emptying. No one wants to deal with a poop pyramid!
#2. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure when it comes to RV maintenance. Take a bit of time to learn how to take care of the little things so that they don’t turn into big, expensive fixes.
To deeply experience any area that we find ourselves in. Whether it be scenic attractions, food, culture, or people, we try to soak in every ounce of a place. We believe that travel is the best educator and have a desire for our children to have a broad world-view, to see and experience as many perspectives as possible. Every place has something beautiful to offer, you just have to go out and find it.

Oregon Coast
Equally raw and wild is the Oregon Coast, another one of our most-loved RV destinations. Every few miles along the 101 we would find another indescribably beautiful and ethereal beach. With the campgrounds being tucked in between towering redwoods and nestled in the seemingly ever-present fog, I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw a fairy dart between the ferns in this enchanting terrain!
Glacier National Park
Glacier National Park is our favorite place we’ve traveled to in our RV to date. On our trip there, we camped right at the foot of a magnificent mountain where we had easy access to countless incredible hikes and wildlife sightings. Every view felt untamed and raw, which reminded us of how big and mysterious the world is!
The Florida Keys
The Florida Keys will always have a place on our favorites list. While not easy to nab, being able to get an RV reservation on the southernmost point of the United States is well worth the effort. Calm and pristinely blue waters, blinding white sand, mangroves that home stingrays and manatees, as well as an endless supply of Key Lime pie all create the feeling of being on some magical faraway Island; an island that you can also bring your home-on-wheels to as well, making it all the more magical.
